StoveTeam International is a nonprofit organization based in Eugene, Oregon that promotes the local production of fuel-efficient cookstoves to replace dangerous open fires in the developing world.

 

StoveTeam seeks an enthusiastic, creative and motivated Development Director to join our team. The position will work closely with the Executive Director, Communications and Operations Manager and Board to develop and implement StoveTeam’s fundraising Strategies. This is a .8 FTE to full-time position working primarily in US with occasional work abroad to develop StoveTeam’s overall fundraising strategy.

 

Overall position will consist of:

  • Managing and implementing StoveTeam’s current Fundraising Program.
  • Planning and evaluating fundraising campaigns and activities changes.
  • Identifying and stewarding current and prospective donors.
  • Staying on top of fundraising trends and the nonprofit community.
  • Development and implementation of donor engagement and retention strategies.
  • Evaluating current fundraising campaigns and activities and developing new strategies for fiscal security.

 

Everyday activities (either personally or by delegation) will include:

  • Communicate with donors and staff via email, phone or social media.
  • Manage donation acknowledgement process. Point person for updating, adding and maintaining donor records in the database (eTapestry).
  • Responsible for gift entry process. Includes copying checks, tracking weekly batches, and preparing weekly deposits. Code and track general donations, tributes, and workplace gifts.
  • Create donor lists and other gift queries and reports.
  • File all donation-related paperwork and maintain organized filing systems.
  • Perform mail merges and manage fundraising mailings.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of bi-annual fundraising campaigns
  • Oversee Everyday Hero (peer-to-peer fundraising) module, develop fundraising campaigns, promote the tool in donor collateral and provide information to interested individuals.
  • Answer donor and staff inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Use donor database to build donor relationships.
  • Create solicitation materials for the fundraising team.
  • Work with Executive Director and Communications and Operations Manager to Implement and evolve the strategic plan for StoveTeam in the areas of fundraising, recommending new offerings consistent with the mission and vision of StoveTeam.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for StoveTeam to the nonprofit community, the media and the general public, to position and strengthen StoveTeam’s name recognition and reputation in the community.
  • Identify potential donors and otherwise increase the overall visibility of StoveTeam.
  • Oversee fundraising efforts including seeking annual, major, campaign and planned gifts.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Professional experience in fundraising, database management
  • Familiarity with digital communications
  • Technologically savvy, fluent using social media, blogs, website administrator tools, database and email systems
  • Graphic design abilities/experience
  • Highly organized, accurate and responsible
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask, identify priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience working with diverse groups
  • Spanish language skills are a plus

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Five-plus years experience in development
  • Track record of soliciting and securing gifts
  • Strong passion and commitment for the mission of StoveTeam International
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Professional and outgoing demeanor
  • Ability to think creatively and critically

 

Compensation and Terms

Salary is commensurate with experience and includes vacation and health benefits. Expected salary range of $45,000 – $60,000 with options for growth depending on success. The position is based in Eugene, Oregon. StoveTeam is an expanding nonprofit with ample opportunities for growth.
