POSITION CONCEPT: The Development Coordinator is an integral member of the Development team of Junior Achievement of Oregon and SW Washington in meeting annual funding goals with an emphasis on grant proposal writing, database management and stewardship of donors. This position conducts prospect research, maintains the donor and funding database, provides general administrative support in planning and logistics of meetings with the Board of Directors and key constituents.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates winning fund development strategies related to grant funding, develops proposals for submission, coordinates and maintains grant proposal templates, prepares and stewards prospect portfolios, and ensures timely reports to funders.
- Develops and manages the development databases such as BCRM which tracks prospects, donors, and funding history. Manages the shared drive and information systems to assure all donor information, prospect plans, and gifts received are recorded, tracked, and reported in a timely and accurate manner. Assures that all data remain up to date and correct.
- Collaborates to identify prospective donors. Conducts research on prospective donors, foundations, and other funders as directed.
- Assists in preparation for other proposals to funders as needed.
- Manages logistics of development appeals correspondence.
- Assists with donor stewardship program with primary focus on stewardship of donors including, but not limited to, communicating with donors as needed to keep donors informed, organizes recognition initiatives, assures that all members of the JA team and Board have information related to donors that encourages enhanced engagement.
- Assist in the management of Special Events.
- Assists with logistics, communications, and materials for Board, committee and annual meetings.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a corporate or non-profit administrative or development role preferred.
- Strong oral, written, and organizational skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability for persuasive case development.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a timely and accurate manner.
- Strong skills with all Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with database platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated customer focus in dealing with a variety of constituents.
