Harvard Business School (HBS) is a global brand with a wide range of internal and external audiences. The Marketing & Communications team (M&C) leads marketing strategy for the School, and supports dozens of marketing or communications focused staff in other departments. We are seeking a detail-oriented digital marketing professional who is passionate about email marketing. Supporting the Director of Digital Marketing, this role will provide internal clients with expertise on how to build and manage successful email marketing campaigns. This includes email for various academic programs, research newsletters, internal communications, and event invitations. The person in this role will manage multiple email marketing platforms, any related technology integrations, and in-person email support during business hours. This position will require a deep understanding of marketing technologies and email best practices. Hands-on experience with email marketing tools will be essential to provide internal clients with clear guidance. The ideal candidate will love working with people and solving problems. Develop email templates (mobile-responsive HTML) that meet the needs of all internal clients. Work with the Creative Director to ensure that email templates are consistent with HBS brand standards. Assist internal clients adapt their email content to fit new templates. Train new users to edit templates, upload contact lists, and schedule emails on an email marketing system. Respond to client questions and be generally helpful in troubleshooting. Manage email automations and workflows. Advise clients on email best practices and strategies to improve results. Provide ad-hoc email reporting and create email data dashboards. Create webforms for newsletter signup landing pages and subscription management. Manage platform account settings and user account permissions. Guide IT in implementation of various technology integrations. Work with the Director, Digital Marketing to implement Salesforce email integrations and strategize future technology solutions. This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA-based campus 1-2 days per week. Specific days and schedules will be determined between you and your manager. Experience working in a large marketing team or marketing agency is preferred. Demonstrated successes in improving email marketing performance. Knowledge of marketing technologies and emerging trends (Email or CRM). Ability to manage multiple projects and balance priorities. Ability to provide superior client service, while projecting positivity and confidence. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to think strategically and act tactically. Exceptional attention to detail. Experience with design is a plus. Enthusiasm for marketing and technology.
